SUMMARY: 
The Hairdresser – St. Mary’s Health@Home (HD-SMH@H) provides a variety of professional hair services at our Patrons preferred locations such as in-home, long term care facilities, retirement homes, community care facilities etc.  The HD-SMH@H offer haircuts, styling, washes, coloring, and treatments etc. while delivering a personalized and convenient salon experience. As a contractor of SJHC, the HD-SMH@H understands quality customer service and takes a person-centered approach to their work. 
The typical SJHC Patrons that the HD-SMH@H would provide service to are those living either permanently or temporarily in a care facility, or who are receiving Home Care services in their homes.  Patrons may be frail, elderly, have mobility challenges, or require support with the daily activities of living. 
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Travel to the homes, offices, or events to provide general hairdressing services within the framework of the Contract for Services 
  • Provide hair styling services such as haircuts, shampoos, and shaves to promote cleanliness, grooming, and self-esteem. 
  • Deliver a full range of hair services including cutting, coloring, and styling for residents, tenants, and staff. 
  • Apply adaptive techniques for residents with physical and cognitive disabilities. 
  • Consult with clients to understand their hair goals and recommend suitable styles and treatments 
  • Schedule and maintain appointments for residents, managing the booking process and responding to client inquiries. 
  • Assist residents to and from salon appointments as required, supporting volunteers and providing occasional portaging when necessary. 
  • Communicate any problems, incidents, or emergency situations related to service delivery. 
  • Document services provided in accordance with company policies, procedures, and contractual requirements. 
  • Offer emotional support during services to enhance the resident’s quality of life. 
  • Ensure resident safety during service and report concerns to the care team and Manager 
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control procedures, ensuring compliance with Public Health standards. 
  • Check equipment for proper working order and recommend repairs or replacements as needed. 
  • Ensure necessary supplies are ordered and available for service delivery. 
  • Stay current with hair trends and techniques to provide innovative and contemporary services. 
  • Create a positive experience for all residents during services. 
  • Collaborate with team members to foster a welcoming and supportive environment.

KEY EDUCAITON AND EXPERIENCE 
  • Certification in hairdressing from a reputable school, required 
  • Licensed Hairstylist in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario, required 
  • 1 year experience working with seniors, required 
  • Mobile hair dressing experience, preferred 
  • Strong knowledge of hair care products, tools, and techniques, required 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, required 
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule, required 
  • Own professional hairdressing tools and products, required 
  • Previous experience in a community care facility, retirement home, long term care facility or other related environment, preferred
